Comment: Wearing the D-Day stripes the C47 has been one of the most successful aircraft ever built.
Such is it's rugged reliability that it was nicknamed the skytrain for it's hard working prowess and minimal maintenance. Freddie Laker later marketed his Laker Airways discount airline using the term "Skytrain" in reference to the C47's reliability.
